Family Abuse and Advocacy Support Team Coordinator | Counsellor
Kylie is a Senior Social Worker with extensive experience working with families and children in the areas of child protection, domestic violence, alcohol and other drug issues and mental health issues. Kylie is currently the FAAST co-ordinator, a role for which she has a great deal of passion. Kylie’s areas of professional interest include women’s emotional health and wellbeing, supporting women who have experienced or are experiencing family violence, parenting issues and counselling to address alcohol and drug misuse and addictive behaviours.
Kylie’s approach to counselling individuals, children and families emphasizes compassion, respect and gentleness while being sure to identify a person’s or family’s strengths and building on those. Kylie uses evidence based approaches in her counselling work including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness. She is training to become a Gestalt Psychotherapist and is working to achieve accreditation in 2019 as an accredited Mental Health Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Work.
